This Week’s Menu and Thoughts
Happy December! Our full Christmas menu is here!
As we take a deep dive into the wintry season, we’re here to cheer you up with our festive holiday menu! And we also have two very special events. First up, join us tomorrow (Sat, 12/7) 3-7pm at Hellbender Brewing for their Holiday Market. There will be goats for petting, cats for adopting, a fire pit, holiday gifts, food, beer, & more!
We’re also hosting a festive Christmas Bread & Brews event at Lost Generation Brewing on Tue, December 17! We’ll provide a demo of how we make our traditional German Holiday Stollen, a Christmas bread that originated in the 16th century. We’ll also share some stories about the unique history of this bread and send you home with a mini Stollen. Book your ticket today; tickets are only $20 and all profits will go to the h3 Project, a non-profit helping the homeless community in DC.
If you want a full-size Stollen for your house or for gifting, we have two flavors to choose from again! The German Holiday Stollen is based on the classic Dresden Stollen, and it’s filled with brandied cherries, blueberries, figs and apricots, as well as almonds and a chunk of almond Marzipan running through the middle. And our Swiss Chocolate Stollen is a chocolate-hazelnut twist on the German classic! Chock-full of hazelnuts, chocolate chunks, candied orange, and chocolate hazelnut paste. Both versions are rolled in rum butter and powdered sugar. They are beautifully wrapped so you can share them at holiday parties or as hostess gifts. These breads last at least several weeks if stored in a cool spot, so stock up and share the holiday love!
Just in time for the holidays, we also brought back our Real Gingerbread Cake and our Chocolate Cherry Bread, which many of you have been asking about! And we have our Hand-painted Snowflake Cookies and Gingerbread people. And last but not least, we’re introducing a Cranberry Orange Walnut Cake!
For a limited time, we’re making two new yummy pie flavors. Our Pear Frangipane starts with almond cake in a sweet pâte brisée crust and then we top it with pears, almonds, and an apricot glaze. And our Apple Cranberry Pie is filled with local apples from our friends at 78 Acres and cranberries for the perfect blend of sweet & tart, topped with buttery streusel. These 8” pies are perfect for serving at home or bringing to holiday gatherings. Don’t worry, we’ll bring back our 9” Texas Pecan Pie and Mile High Apple Pie for Christmas!
And if you’re not into all of the holiday flavors, we have a few other delicious options! Try our tangy and creamy Lemon Curd Brioche, our creamy Lemon Blueberry Ricotta Pound Cake, or our savory Spinach, Garlic, Feta, & Parmesan Focaccia.
You can find us at all of our regular markets this week, including Dupont Circle Farmers Market, which we attend every other week.
