This Week’s Menu and Thoughts
Happy New Year! Cheers to a dough-lightful year ahead!
To celebrate the new year, we’re bringing you some of our favorite comfort foods for a limited time, some healthy options (if you’re into that!), and a couple sophisticated new options! Also, please take note that several markets are beginning winter hours this week (starting an hour later) - so make sure to check the updated hours we’ve posted in the schedule for Arlington, Brookland/Monroe St, Columbia Heights, and Mosaic.
This is the last week for our Jalapeño Cheddar Bread for a couple months. So grab one last loaf of this cheesy comfort food! Don’t worry, while it’s on hiatus, we’ll be serving up tangy Asiago Cheese Bread! We’re also making just one final batch of Gingerbread Cake before we switch back to our classic Coffee Cake. And don’t blink, or you’ll miss our Pumpkin Spice Bread making a limited edition return on Sunday!
If you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to eat healthier, you should know that we are committed to using natural ingredients (local when possible!) across our full menu, and letting the ingredients shine, rather than using extra sugar or preservatives. While this takes more time, we believe it results in a higher quality product that is better for you. Two of our healthiest products are the Organic Whole Wheat Sourdough and Sliced Multigrain. Our Whole Wheat Sourdough is hearty and toothy and made with whole grain, organic hard red winter wheat flour from our friends at Grapewood Farm in Virginia’s historic Northern Neck. Our Sliced Multigrain is a soft whole wheat bread made with a porridge of millet, oatmeal, flax seed, buckwheat, corn grits, and pearled barley grains.
And to delight your taste buds to kick off the new year, we have a couple special new items for you! On the savory side, our Focaccia of the Day is topped with Caramelized Onions and Gruyère. Yum! On the sweet side, we’re bringing back - by popular demand - Death by Chocolate Cherry Cookies. Not only are these cookies sinfully decadent, they’re also gluten free! If you’re looking for a more fruit-forward treat, try our Brioche filled with a Spiced Pear Compote. Next week, we’ll be rolling out several new menu items, including our Mardi Gras King Cakes (starting January 11!)
You can find us at all of our regular markets this week, including Dupont Circle Farmers Market, which we attend every other week. Adams Morgan is now closed for the season.
