This Week’s Menu and Thoughts

It’s beginning to taste a lot like Christmas!

We have small holiday treats to get you in the holiday spirit, larger items for gifting and sharing, and breads to warm you up! We also hope you’ll join us for Christmas Bread & Brews at Lost Generation Brewing this Tuesday, December 17! During this festive event, we’ll provide a demo of how we make our traditional German Holiday Stollen, share some stories about the unique history of this bread, and send you home with a mini Stollen. Good food, good company, and good beer - all for a good cause! Tickets are only $20 and all profits go to the h3 Project, a non-profit fighting homelessness and human trafficking in DC.

For small holiday treats and stocking stuffers, try our Pecan Pie Shortbread Bar, Hand-painted Snowflake Cookies, and Gingerbread people. And for those bigger stockings, try our Real Gingerbread Cake topped with candied ginger, our Chocolate Cherry Bread, which many of you have been asking about! And last but not least, Chocolate Ganache Brioche. Yum!

And if you’re looking for a holiday gift - or something festive to enjoy at home - we have several great options. For one more week, we have two 8” pies: Pear Frangipane, an almond cake topped with pears, almonds, and an apricot glaze; and Apple Cranberry Pie, filled with local apples from our friends at 78 Acres and cranberries for the perfect blend of sweet & tart, topped with buttery streusel. Our 9” Texas Pecan Pie and Mile High Apple Pie will be back for Christmas and New Year’s! We also have German Holiday Stollen, filled with brandied cherries, blueberries, figs and apricots, as well as almonds and a chunk of almond Marzipan running through the middle. And our Swiss Stollen is a chocolate-hazelnut twist on the German classic! Chock-full of hazelnuts, chocolate chunks, candied orange, and chocolate hazelnut paste.

You can also stay warm with our Focaccia of the Day, topped with Artichoke Hearts, Kalamata Olives, and Parmesan. Our Soft Dinner Rolls are a great addition to any meal; and they’re buttery tasting yet vegan so all can enjoy!

You can find us at all of our regular markets this week, except Dupont Circle Farmers Market, which we attend every other week so we’ll be back on the 22nd.
